David is has worked as a teacher, Principal, leader in the not-for-profit sector and senior public servant. His most recent positions were as Deputy Director General of the Department of Culture and the Arts, Director, Strategic Issues in the Department of Premier and Cabinet and the Executive Director for the Office of Early Childhood Development and Learning with the Department of Education. From 2001 to 2005 David was the General Manager of The Smith Family in Western Australia and prior to this a school principal. He has worked and studied in the United Kingdom completing a Masters of Philosophy (Education) at Cambridge University and was a visiting International Fellow for the National College of School Leadership in the UK. His research interests and publications have been related to schools serving low income communities.
