Dr Belaynew Taye graduated in Medicine from Jimma University, Ethiopia. He then served as a clinician in Ethiopia.

Dr Taye Joined the Department of Epidemiology at the University of Gondar and earned Master of Public Health. He served as a faculty where he taught courses and supervised research for undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Dr Taye earned his PhD from the University of Queensland, Australia in 2022. His thesis investigated the impact of interventions on control and elimination of viral hepatitis and clinical outcomes.

He currently works as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Telethon Kids Institute, Australia focusing on burden and clinical outcomes of infectious diseases in children especially respiratory syncytial virus and streptococcal infections using longitudinal data. Dr Taye has published more than 40 research articles in peer-reviewed journals.
